Giving Back

Issue Nine

A few years ago our staff was in the middle of placing our annual client holiday gift basket order when I read a Miami Herald story about a local non-profit that needed donations to purchase food for families that had nothing to eat during the holidays. Needless to say, we canceled the gift basket order and donated those funds to buy food for many families that year, hoping our clients would understand.

That was the year we started our annual holiday tradition of giving to organizations in need. Our clients not only understood, but several have adopted the same tradition.

Giving back to our communities brings a fuller measure of purpose and meaning to any company. Community service was a founding principle of The Doug Williams Group and we are proud that we have been able to support the following organizations through pro-bono services, volunteer hours, discounted fees, in-kind services, and cash gifts over the past ten years:

This holiday season we would like to encourage individuals and businesses to “give back” by adopting an organization that needs your help. We know that the following organizations would be especially appreciative of your support this year:

The Marian Center Preschool is an inclusive program for children with and without special needs from birth to five years old. The staff provides a nurturing and stimulating environment that can make a life-changing difference to a child. Your company can become a supporter of The Marian Center Preschool by making an annual donation for partial or full tuition coverage for a child. To learn more about The Marian Center Preschool contact Doug Williams (305-598-9880) or Dr. Tom Horan (305-356-1746) and visit the website: www.mariancenterschool.org.

Community Health of South Florida provides healthcare services to the under and uninsured population throughout South Florida through a growing network of clinics and school-based programs. Our company established an endowment that provides funds to employees for professional development activities and tuition costs. Your company can become a supporter of Community Health of South Florida by making a donation to the endowment. To learn more about Community Health of South Florida contact Doug Williams (305-598-9880) or Colonel Brodes Hartley (305-252-4853) and visit the website: www.chisouthfl.org.

I hope this issue of Taking Action has encouraged you to find ways during this holiday season to give a special gift to your community.

Happy Holidays,
