Giving Back

Issue Thirteen

For several years we have donated the money that would have otherwise been spent on holiday cards and gifts for our clients to community non-profits. Our clients not only understand, but several have adopted the same holiday tradition.

In these difficult economic times it is more important than ever before that individuals and businesses “give back” to an organization that needs your help. Give your time and give your money to brighten a kid’s life, put food on the table of a suffering family, or provide healthcare for someone who has no place to turn. You don’t have to look far to find someone who needs encouragement and hope. Do it!

This is how we decided to use our client holiday money this year:

We adopted a classroom at Neva King Cooper Educational Center, a special school within Miami-Dade County Public Schools that educates profoundly handicapped students between 3 and 22 years of age. The center provides a variety of programs and services for the students, families, and caregivers. Our staff will have a great time this week giving our newly adopted kids fun teaching aides that will be enjoyed every day.

Community Health of South Florida provides healthcare services to the under and uninsured population throughout South Florida through a growing network of clinics and school-based programs. In 2002 our company established an endowment that provides funds to employees for professional development activities and tuition costs. This year we made the commitment to provide pro-bono data analysis services to support the continued expansion of CHI’s school-based programs, currently operating in 27 schools. Your company can become a supporter of Community Health of South Florida by making a donation to the endowment. To learn more about Community Health of South Florida contact Doug Williams (305-598-9880) or Colonel Brodes Hartley, CEO (305-252-4853).

I hope that this issue of Taking Action has encouraged you to find ways during this holiday season to give a special gift to your community.
